Say hoot hoot to Zula the 6 week old tiny baby Barn Owl at Woodlands Family Theme Park near Dartmouth.
Zula who was looking for that forever home arrived at the park at the end of May and has spent her first few weeks settling in and getting used to her new owners and surroundings. Zula still has another two weeks before she starts learning how to fly. She enjoys being handled and is very inquisitive. Her training will start shortly with the Falconers in the hope for her to join the Woodlands Falconry Displays.
Anyone that has caught a glimpse of Zula is mesmerised by the cuteness! The falconers hope that little Zula will take place in the displays by the end of the season and join crowd favourites of Whisp the Tawny owl, Tundra the snowy owl and Samantha the Bengalese eagle owl.
Falconer Lynn described the first time he saw the tiny little barn owl. ‘She looked like a tiny white ball of fluff with eyes, just the cutest thing ever’’.
To celebrate the arrival of Zula on Saturday 25th June we are giving the first 100 paying families a free TY Soft Toy Owl. T&C’s apply please see woodlandspark.com for details.
Barn Owls in the U.K. are estimated at around 5,000 breeding pairs and are featured on the endangered list.
Visitors can catch a glimpse of Zula at Woodlands Family Theme Park and hopefully soon at the falconry flying displays.
